About The Event

Part 1 Introduction to Dance Therapy. Be introduced to Dance/Movement Therapy and learn

about education and certification. Participate in Dance/Movement Therapy warmups and ice

breakers that can be used in groups and in work with individuals. Experience common dance

therapy techniques and see how verbal therapists can use these techniques in their counseling

work. An introduction and experiential on authentic movement will also be presented.

Introduction to Drama Therapy. Be introduced to Drama Therapy and learn what education and

certification is available. Experience how to use of the Imaginal Realm in drama therapy and in

clinical work. Participants will experience Drama Therapy techniques such as: role plays,

playback theater, psychodrama, and bibliotherapy.

Part 2 Special populations. Apply the first half of the training to how to use Dance/Movement

Therapy and Drama Therapy to special populations such as individuals struggling with substance

abuse, trauma and mood disorders. Applications will be presented for working with children,

adults, individuals, groups and families. Individuals will be encouraged to discuss the populations

they work with and how to apply Dance/Movement Therapy and Drama Therapy.

Participants will not become certified by attending this workshop but will instead learn how to

use techniques and apply it to training already mastered as a licensed mental health professional.

Come prepared and dressed to move! Format will be 1⁄2 Discussion and 1⁄2 experiential!

Workshop is targeted to licensed mental health professionals

(LPC, LCAS, LCSW, LMFT).

The workshop is open to all that are interested in learning more about Dance/Movement

Therapy and Drama Therapy, all levels welcome.
