About The Event
Why COAPS Designation?
The opioid crisis disproportionately affects older adults. They often resort to prescription opioids for
managing acute pain or chronic conditions. Additionally, alcohol abuse among older individuals is on the
rise. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbates mental health challenges in older adults due to increased
social isolation, leading to trauma, anxiety, and depression.
