Embodied Sand Tray Enactment

Part 1 (9 AM-12 PM) Be introduced to Sandtray/Sandplay therapy. Participants will learn

advanced techniques in traditional sandtray work. Techniques will be taught and

experienced to use with assessments, individuals, and groups.

Part 2 (1-5 PM) Participants will learn how to use Drama Therapy, embodied sand play

enactment and Dance/Movement Therapy to bring body awareness to the work. Ways to

take the work out of the sandtray and into action will be taught and experienced. These

techniques and concepts will be applied to work with adults, children, groups and with

families. Both intermediate and advanced techniques will be taught perfect for those with

some experience, but all levels welcomed.

Learning objectives:

• Be able to discuss an understanding of what sandtray is and how to use it in the

diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders.

• Learn what is needed to make or purchase a sandtray.

• Be able to apply 1-2 sandtray counseling theories, principles and techniques to

use with assessments.

• Be able to discuss 1-2 sandtray counseling theories, principles and techniques to

use with assessments to use with individuals or groups.

Come prepared and dressed to move! Format will be 1⁄2 Discussion and 1⁄2 experiential!

Work shop is targeted to licensed mental health professionals

(LPC, LCAS, LCSW, LMFT) but is open to all.
