LaShanda Brown, RN, PhD

Dr. LaShanda Brown is a nurse practitioner and yoga teacher who researches self care practices of nurses and caregivers with a focus on building and maintaining resilience.  Her past research looks at the roles of nurses in the community and the impact of their selfless service on the lives that they touched. She is interested in exploring the impact of their service as caregivers on their own personal health and well being, as well as the benefits of contemplative practices like mindfulness, yoga, meditation, and reflective journaling.

Dr. Brown teaches yoga and meditation in the community, and has witnessed firsthand the positive impact that these practices can have on individuals in the healthcare professions. She facilitates womens' circles and mini retreats to offer spaces for women to reflect, learn tools for resilience, and form supportive communities.
